    Where it All Began

At Crayon Eater’s Wife 1775, our core belief is simple: Laughter is a critical tool for healing. We are a nonprofit dedicated to supporting our nation’s veterans and their families, leveraging the power of community, connection, and humor to navigate the profound challenges that follow service-related injuries. We don’t just talk about recovery; we live it, and we laugh through it.

“When you can find a reason to laugh at your situation—even the toughest one—you take back a piece of yourself the injury tried to steal. That laugh is defiance. That laugh is healing.” – Jimmy King

CEW1775 was born from Jimmy and Beth’s shared realization that this powerful, often overlooked, method of healing needed to be shared. We know that the journey of recovery is not just physical; it’s emotional, psychological, and communal.

Through our programs, we create environments where veterans and their spouses can drop their guard, share their experiences without judgment, and use humor to break down the walls built by trauma and isolation.

From Personal Battle to National Mission

    Jimmy and Beth’s Story

Our organization is co-founded by Jimmy and Beth King.

The mission is rooted in the personal journey of Jimmy King, a decorated and highly dedicated veteran of the United States Marine Corps. In 2004, while serving bravely in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack tragically took one of Jimmy’s legs.

The path through recovery was—and continues to be—a monumental fight, not just for Jimmy, but for Beth as his devoted spouse and caregiver. But amidst the surgeries, the therapy, and the dark moments of despair, Jimmy and Beth discovered an unexpected, yet essential, lifeline…humor.
